HEY THERE

i’m nicole!

I believe all art forms are vehicles through which to curate human experiences. As a product designer and musician, I thrive on audience engagement, the iterative process, and creating beautiful, functional, and thought-provoking spaces.

With over three years of professional experience in the 3D experiential design field, I bring joyful workplace environments to life from inception to installation under agile project timelines and budgets. As technological innovations continue to transform the everyday, I would like to adapt my human-centered design skills from the physical to the digital realm. My goal is to promote healthy relationships with technology: a powerful tool not to replace but to enhance our interactions with the people and the world around us.

INSPIRED BY

architecture

Not only do digital environments impact the user experience, but physical environments do as well. I’ve always been awestruck by architectural diversity and urban design. When traveling, I love to visit architectural icons and obsess over the details, study floor and circulation plans, and explore how formal and spatial qualities affect the human experience.

Pictured on the left is one of the models I built of an office interior as an architecture student at UCLA. Pictured on the right is a progress photo of a 90’ wide x 30’ high permanent art installation in the lobby of the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus, in which I detailed the custom wood cleat and panel system and managed the fabrication and installation.

PASSIONATE ABOUT

music

When I am not designing, I am freelancing in professional orchestras as a classical musician! I have been playing the clarinet for 16 years and currently serve as principal in the Golden Gate Park Band and associate in Peninsula Symphony. I have performed in unique venues all over the world from the steps of the Great Wall of China to a beachside castle in the South-of-France. I was inspired to pursue music by my father, who is a renowned jazz musician. My brother and sister are also musicians, so melody and harmony resonate throughout the Galisatus household!

SHAPED BY

the mixed-race experience

I am half Chinese, half Greek, and fully proud of my mixed-race identity! My parents had their wedding ceremony at a Greek Orthodox church and reception at a Chinese banquet hall. As a blend of two wildly different backgrounds, my cross-cultural experiences have contributed to my ability to reconcile differences and empathize with people from all walks of life. To me, the mixed race experience is about understanding that identity cannot be oversimplified. Belonging in multiple spaces simultaneously can be confusing, but also enriching as it allows us to connect with so many more people around us.
